I fell in love with this book the very frist time I read it as a child. It was introduced to me by a dear family friend and I have found that I think about it or reflect upon it at some really interesting points in my life. It moved me to tears then and has done so several times, if not every time I read it (including today when I bought the Kindle version). Everytime I read it I feel as though I understand anew one of its lessons. I am always able to apply it to my life and it tuly inspires me. I wish and pray I had the character of Mary and/or her father. To those who have not read the book or have just stumbled upon it, it is pleasantly and artfully doused with scripture and provides great insight on how one's thoughts are to be trained in order to attain purity of heart. It is true that the pure in heart will see God. And I see God in this great work of literature.Product details

Simply put, this book has been my all-time favorite! It's the book that touched me and made me sensitive to the needs of others and the injustices and insane insensitivity of those with some kind of power ever since I was eight years old!
The story is timeless yet fresh for today. Written by an unknown author, the book has a story, trials, severe hardships, all clothed in words of comfort from Scripture. I highly recommend this book for its truth and message.
I read this book when I was a child, and I revisited it in memory of my Mom. This is a simply wonderful book- with great life's lessons and a charmed innocence which most of us have lost. I will buy the hard copy now for my grandchildren.
I bought this book for my grand daughter and she just can't put it down
It's really a great book.It seems to be written more for older girls but as an adult you can still glean from it.It is very scripturally base and it is a good gift for probably 10 yrs old and above girl depending on their reading comprehension/ability.I highly recommend to those who are serious about their spiritual life and looking for a good book for their kids.
I have heard about this book for a long time, but did not get around to reading it. I bought it a week ago on my kindle and decided to give it a read.
It is well written, however it gives a simplistic view of what christianity is about. The book is a good example of how parents should pass good values on to their kids, how we should teach our children to see the beauty in all things.
Lessons I learnt from the book are
Do good to others not evil ,because life will definately pay you back
Even if we are falsely accused , do not allow this to change who you are.
Be good as parents Life will repay your kids
Although this Christian book is written in a bit of an older manner, the drama, the love, and the message definitely will keep a younger reader captivated. I wish I had read it during my own childhood as the power of a father's love for his daughter would have been a great comfort to me. One of the strong messages that I would love for my grandchildren to understand is the message that, even though you may be wrongly accused, and even punished or exiled, that doesn't mean that eventually the truth won't come out. Knowing in your own heart and in God's eyes that you are honest is enough, despite what the world may say about you or do to you. In this day and age, that kind of patient integrity is not often patterned to our young people.
